French Film Prize to Jennifer Jones

Before an audience of French screen notables, Jennifer Jones today received a French Film Award as the best non-French actress of 1948. The prize, the equivalent in France to the Hollywood "Oscar" was a small reproduction of the famed statue of the Winged Victory.
The award was made by Robert Lacoste, Minister of Commerce and Industry.
Walt Disney, the producer of the animated cartoons, received an award for his "Dumbo" and "Bambi". They were among a series of awards that also named Gregory Peck as Best Foreign Actor. Peck was unable to attend to receive his award in person.

Best Foreign Film Direction: Alfred Hitchcock for "Notorious".
Best French Film Direction: Jean Delannoy for "Yeux Du Souvenir".
Best French Actor: Louis Jouvet.
Best French Actress: Michele Morgan.
Best French Film: Jean Cocteau for "Les Parents Terribles".
Best Foreign Film: Laurence Olivier for "Hamlet".
